2006 Saint Jean you Barroux L'Argile

Philippe Gimel is back on input and that is a reason as good as any to try the latest vintage of the wine formerly known as Cuvée Oligocene and SJB third For those not encountered Gimel and Saint Jean you Barroux earlier so it's about a wine from apellationen Cotes du Ventoux in the southern Rhone. We're talking organic farming and traditional methods.

2006 L'Argile is a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% syrah, 5% Carignan and 5% Cinsault. Combine the socket is 20 hl / ha, 75% of the grapes has avstjälkats, 12 days of skin contact, and 18 months of storage in the tank. There you have hard data that did of course only tells a small part of the story. Anyone who wants to learn more, look here , here or here

The color is dark red with a slightly blue at the edges. From the glass flows a large, dark, powerful and complex aroma. The first thing that strikes are a handful when fully ripe, black cherry and after a while makes me associate it with chocolates in Alladain-box. Cherry Fruit seconded by olive paste, meat juice, rotten leaves, garrigue and rainwater dirt road.

taste take immediately back to the aromas and follows nicely after. The wine is very rich and powerful without feeling heavy. It is very balanced with the perfect balance between concentration and elegance. Cherry fruit is of course in the center but there are plenty of other things in the oral cavity. The acid, the finkroniga tannins and a slight bitterness from the stems are tightening up and hold together with a chalk up package. Somewhere in this is 15% alcohol very well packaged.

This is clearly the best vintage of L'Argile / Cuvée Oligocene to date. It is available now but will evolve a lot over a number of years. In recent weeks I have been drinking several bottles of 2007 La Source that is irresistible charm right now, and in my mother of the most delicious wine she had ever drunk. Sorry sold out for both the producer and importer . A few bottles might be found with the Super Best in Charlottenlund or Danish importer A Vinstouw
