Ettore Germano is based in Serralunga d'Alba in Barolo zone, where they grow grapes from about 7 hectares of the famous fields Prapò, Lazzarito and Cerretta. Germano has a long history as a grower, but only started their own are vinified and bottled in the early '90s and today they are among the best names in Serralunga d'Alba.
This base barolo come from younger canes on Prapò and Cerretta. Maceration for 10 days and store for two years on a mix of older tonneaux and barriques. Germano harvested everything before the infamous rain in October and have been lucky with their 05'ere.
Transparent garnet. The nose is totally lost from pop with tons of classic Serralungaelementer: Camphor, leather, truffles, white smoke, stones, cranberries and green strawberries. Liquorice grows with air and eventually dominate.
hard in the mouth, where Britain lurk as talc front of the mouth from the very beginning. Dominated cranberry fruit, which is somewhat recessed relative to the black and green power to the front with leather, grape kernel thin coffee and smoke and the intense acid that has the classic steel-like breadth and power. The finish closes really nice with large simultaneously acid and tannin peak. In the aftertaste becomes lilac going and going and wears only reluctantly away with English licorice, subtle berry, stem and little hint of butterscotch completely out. One could have wished for more fruit, but the overall impression is amazing - when you dream about Barolo is like this they taste and smell.
I've tasted most of Germanos Barolo from the past four years and have been impressed every time. It is a pure style, but not slim, there are muscles and breadth of Germanos Barolo. Sergio Germano puts it precisely in Winefactorys small interview from last year's Vini d'Italia: "I vil like two express the character of the Serralunga terroir (..), I ønsker express the power of Nebbiolo också den elegance". That success really warm recommendations from here. Imported by Viniropa .
