Myrto Foradori 2007 Rosso Piceno Superiore 2007 San Savino Picus

On Monday I tried a Rosso Piceno Superiore from San Filippo. Tonight I tried a wine from neighboring producer San Savino.

2007 Rosso Piceno Superiore Picus. Ruby red color with some blue on the edge. Picus is made of 60% Montepulciano and 40% sangiovese. The first scent impression is truly Tuscan. Intense aromas of cherries and stables. The next wave will be darker and sweeter bärfrukt backed by kanelkryddighet and licorice.

taste is big and powerful, with loads of sweet, dark bärfrukt. There is a hint of cherries here but the dark fruit dominate. I'm waiting, like a train passenger hopeful, that the acids will step in, give the flavor a boost and balance the wine but it is nothing with it. Alcohol may greatly affect the taste and it feels rather heavy and clumsy. One glass is enough for me and I drink a few glasses instead of the delightful Coulaine de Soleil to food.

The wine is available in order selection and costs SEK 129.
