Adriatic Vinimport is owned by Lolli family and importer behind bl. a. Enoteca - this lovely little wine store outlets on Queen Cross Street, run by Paolo Lolli, author of Piedmont and Friuliafsnittene in Politiken's book on Italian wine. Adriatic import an impressive array of top producers and redistribute to several wine shops and restaurants. As something new, many of the Adriatic wines are also available through the webshop vildmedvin.dk.
Among the Italian restaurants that have Adriatic wines are renowned pit in Aarhus and their adjacent brasserie Gourmet Garage . The latter is a cozy and informal Italian eatery without French or nynordiske fuss and with a rustic, solid menu and wine list at the lower price range. We got excellent Raw marinated cod, Saltimbocca (top!) and cheese and made a small Piedmontese-tuscany battle at serious entry-level wine from two great producers:
2008 Matteo Correggia Barbera d'Alba have blogged before in 06-version, this seems a lot easier, but is beautiful in racy style and unfold after air with bold, perfumed nose of fragrance erect, plum liqueur, blueberry and fadaromaer. Rhone-lightweight-ish in the mouth with tart, juicy, soft fruits, but the steep, loose tannin finish exposes the alcohol (14%) and leaves a little unbalanced, simplistic impression. Nor does the acid come up and running. The best was sixth with sediment that could sniff a little during the evening - it grew quite pretty bold spices and flowers and there would probably have been a good time to oxidation.
The comparison had 2008 Bibbiano Chianti Classico something more to offer, though I really had not expected it. Dark, but fresher berry, dry tobacco and slightly fadsødme in the fragrance. The taste is nature and grip in both acid and tannin and especially delicious mineral backbone of flavor. Leaner and more focused style than Corregias Barbera. Roughly the same faddosering and filling (medium), but as I said, with more structure and more edge.
Both wines cost about 100kr. in retail and 350kr. on tonight's card. Both are reasonable. Many of the card's wines are also sold by the glass.
